POSITION SUMMARY
Provide care, comfort, safety and general supervision to residents by assisting them with activities of daily living and tending to their individual care needs while learning their unique preferences and personalities to assure a safe, protected, clean and orderly environment.

Essential Job Functions
- Arrive punctually at your scheduled shift time ready to work.
- Understand, comply with and promote resident rights.
- Maintain confidentiality of resident health information as required by HIPAA
- Ensure a safe environment for residents, visitors and co-workers.
- Review and provide resident care as outlined in resident Care plans at the beginning of shift.
- Review the medication administration record (MAR) daily and check for accuracy each time against physician’s orders before administering medications to residents.
- Review incoming physician orders for medications for accuracy. Update the MAR accordingly.
- Review medication container labels form pharmacy to ensure medication is for correct resident and contains the correct drug, dosage, frequency, etc. by comparing to physician’s orders.
- Conduct monthly MAR audits using the 5 rights too. Provide feedback to Health and Wellness Director.
- Administer medications to residents according to their care plans and record immediately in the Medication Administration Record (MAR)
- Order and reorder medications according to policy and procedure to ensure medications do not run out.
- Answer residents’ call signals. Respond to door alarms, fire alarms, etc.
- Assist residents, alone or with assistance, with turning, repositioning, moving in and out of bed, toileting and personal hygiene (including monitoring of bowel and bladder incontinence), walking and exercise.
- Observe and report resident behavior and condition changes (including food/liquid intake/output, vital signs, skin concerns, weight and signs of injury or neglect), and communicate information to Health and Wellness Director.
- Complete daily charting and documentation as required.
- Assist and encourage residents to eat and take sufficient fluids and snacks.
- Display a caring, respectful and positive attitude when addressing residents, family members and co-workers.
- Understand and comply with universal precautions and infection control, isolation, fire, safety and sanitation practices and procedures.
- Adhere to procedures regarding equipment, cleaners or other hazardous materials and report incidents or accidents in a timely fashion.
- Attend mandatory in-service meetings and other continuing education opportunities as required.
Other Functions and Responsibilities
- Capture ancillary supply costs for billable supplies provided to resident
- Clean up spills, soiled areas and other conditions as observed or directed.
- Perform general housekeeping and laundry duties as required.
- Assist with kitchen and dining room tasks associated with resident meals, including preparatory work, serving, cleaning up, and setting tables, taking out trash and other related duties as required.
- Participate in a new hire job shadowing, orientation and training as required.
- Participate in or lead leisure activities as planned by the Life Engagement team. Assist and remind residents to participate in activities.
- Perform other duties as requested within the scope of responsibility and requirements of the job.

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education and Experience
Medication certification program, and at least 1 year experience of medication administration, and must be at least 18 years of age.
Computer Skills
Must have basic knowledge of operating a computer and familiarity with Word, Excel and Outlook in a windows environment.

Must be able to use telephone, fax machine, copy machine, and medical equipment including blood pressure cuffs, stethoscopes, diabetic equipment, needles, syringes and any other specialized medical equipment as needed to provide resident care.
