POSITION TITLE: MENTOR SUPERVISOR
REPORTS TO: ASSISTANT PROGRAM MANAGER
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Mentor Supervisor is the main point of contact for our Mentors and participants in the field on a daily basis. Working in shifts, these individuals engage our Mentors 24/7 to strengthen the support of our participants at the highest level. This individual will act as an ambassador to L4L in all interactions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
a. Reports to Mentor Coordinator concerning updates with clients
b. Reports to Program Manager with concerns and feedback on mentors, fellow supervisors, troubleshooting after pop-ups or site visits, or needing support as a supervisor.
c. Communicates with all mentors regarding day-to-day support
d. Communicate live updates in the Messaging App to ensure the team is informed
e. Is the key point of contact for emergency and non-emergency calls
f. Liaison to hotels for client placements
g. Is responsible for delivering program guidelines and fostering a good working environment by leveraging the program rules to ensure the safety of all participants
h. Will Onboard new mentors and participants
i. Will provide weekly check-ins for systems and processes I.e., shift notes, etc.
j. Coach, teach and train all new mentors during new hire onboarding and veteran mentors as needed
k. May be asked to participate on Interview panel for prospective new mentors
l. 24/7 on-call support for participants, crisis intervention, real-time, and management
m. Provides grocery list approval and takes participants grocery shopping
n. Provide payment for laundry
o. Attend organization training, meetings, and other mandates as requested
p. Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS.
• Education in human services, social work, business, education, or related field, or other combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered with a minimum of at least three (3) years of combined education and experience as a mentor.
• Must have a current state-issued driver's license
• Must have current auto insurance on their vehicle that meets the MD state minimum requirements
• Experience personally and professionally with youth who have had engagement in the criminal and child welfare systems.
• Experience leading, developing, and supporting a high-performing, results-oriented team.
• Demonstrated skills in strategic and operational planning, finance, capacity-building, and performance management.
• Possess creativity and a growth mindset.
Must have strong technology skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, fax machines, photocopiers, and other standard office equipment. Must have experience with guidelines to satisfy HIPAA compliance. Excellent problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to investigate and identify system issues and problems. Ability to effectively leverage internal and external resources; and work collaboratively with a team.
1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
At times there may be sedentary work. May be required to periodically lift up to 51lbs, moving in various positions. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
A. Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
B. Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand or arm as in handling.
C. Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
D. Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
E. Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discriminations in sound.
3. VISUAL ACUITY
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as:
driving a motor vehicle, preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
4. WORKING CONDITIONS
The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
