The Queen City Academy Charter School is Plainfield, New Jersey’s first charter school. QCACS serves scholars in grades K-10 and growing to K-12. Middle School Math Teacher Position Overview
All teachers at The Queen City Academy Charter School advance the mission, goals and educational philosophy of the school by planning and facilitating learning activities and experiences that advance the intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth of students, while enabling students to develop competencies, skills and disposition to function successfully in society.
The Middle School Math Teacher should be able to:
- Teach fundamental middle school math concepts like ratios and proportions, expressions and equations, the number system, and more!
- Develop Math culturally responsive curriculum and utilize culturally responsive problem-solving
- Inspire students to wrestle with problems and think critically about all of the possible solutions
- Demonstrate your enthusiasm for mathematics to instill confidence and meaningful engagement in students
- Meet with your principal and/or instructional coach once a week to analyze and respond to trends in student work samples and assessments
- Learn and apply strategies for differentiating instruction for all students in your classroom
- Develop positive relationships with students in order to make them feel seen, loved, and heard
- Partner with families to ensure that adequate resources are available to support their child's learning needs
- Serve as an example of our core values, and support student progress, you will take part in weekly school-wide meetings
- Partner with your grade level team, you'll set academic objectives and put teaching techniques into practice
Qualifications
The successful candidate will hold at minimum a Bachelor’s degree and certification as appropriate. The expectation is that all candidates hold at least a Certificate of Eligibility and QCACS leadership can provide guidance on obtaining full certification in the State of New Jersey. Candidates should be prepared to provide a copy of a valid New Jersey Certificate or proof of passing the required PRAXIS tests. Applicants must demonstrate cultural sensitivity, ability to communicate with parents and students across lines of difference, have mastery of subject matter content, be a team player, hold high expectations of students and possess basic understanding of child development.
