Ashland has an exciting opportunity for a Millwright to join our Specialty Ingredients G.P. business at our Parlin, NJ location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Maintenance function. This position will report to the plant Maintenance Supervisor.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Must be familiar with the operation, design and maintenance of all mechanical equipment in a chemical process plant including, but not limited to: pumps, fans, compressors, centrifuges, gear boxes, mixers/agitators, conveyors, rotary valves, and rotating equipment
- Must demonstrate a commitment to safety as demonstrated by experience in leading or participating in company safety committees, or other safety related activities
- Must participate in continuing plant improvement activities and compliance with the plant safety program
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
- Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for the millwright job classification, or documented equivalent experience
- 3-5 years experience working as a Journeyman millwright in a heavy industrial environment
- Experience working as a multi-skilled mechanic able to perform expanded duties including pipefitting, welding, rigging etc.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings and navigate basic computer functions required
- Applicant must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Must have the ability to stand for long periods of time while repairing equipment
- Must be able to work rotating shifts, holidays, and overtime as required
- Must be able to work outdoors for extended periods
- Must be able to work at heights
- Must be able to climb stairs carrying 50 lbs.
The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:
- Welding certification
- Basic or advanced rigging training
- Ability to use Microsoft Office applications
- Working knowledge of laser alignment
- Experience with using a CMMS such as SAP or Maximo
- Experience working in an OSHA PSM covered facility
