JOB SUMMARY: The Quality Assurance Manager for Misty Mountain Spring Water Company, LLC is responsible for ensuring all external and internal requirements are met prior to our product reaching our customers. This role will be responsible for inspecting procedures and outputs, as well as identifying and remedying mistakes or non-conformity issues.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Work collaboratively with Quality Assurance, Sanitation, Maintenance, Warehouse and Production personnel to ensure timely execution of the company operations while ensuring uncompromised food safety compliance.
- Responsible for ensuring the Misty Mountain Spring Water Company, LLC meets all local, state, and federal regulatory compliance.
- Act as a liaison between company and regulatory officials regarding quality assurance inspections and issues (i.e. US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as membership/independent auditors).
- Acts as a liaison between the company and our customers regarding quality assurance issues.
- Provides oversight and direction for the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) Program.
- Record keeping compliance.
- Responsible for development and enforcement of company's Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures (SSOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Provides oversight and enforcement of quality production standards, as well as plant's sanitation program.
- Responsible for overseeing the implementation and maintenance of the company's standards, SSOP, HACCP, FDA, GMP, all safety policies and procedures, and any other established policies and requirements necessary.
- Responsible for maintaining and revising manuals for Sanitation, HACCP, GMP, SSOP, and Q/A laboratory procedures as well as National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP) Manuals.
- Oversees refined security plan mandated and enforced by the FDA and International Bottled Water Association (IBWA).
- Responsible for quality assurance procedures and documentation throughout plant engineering projects.
- Serves as company's recall coordinator.
- Responsible for maintaining all necessary records pertaining to quality assurance.
- Responsible for hiring, onboarding, training, and supervisory responsibilities for a team of Laboratory Technicians.
- Responsible for submission of product samples for chemical, physical, and radiological annual testing by environmental laboratory as required by FDA.
- Responsible for submission of product samples to customers, as required.
- Oversees in-house testing of products and approves release for distribution.
- Responsible for plant's air quality testing program.
- Maintains state and federal licensing for in-house quality assurance laboratory.
- Responsible for purchasing laboratory supplies in a cost-efficient manner.
- Oversees supplier compliance program.
- Responsible for attending on-site work during normal business hours in the typical work week, as well as extra time as needed to fulfill job duties through regular attendance.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years of experience in people and functional leadership roles including Quality Assurance, Regulatory, Technical, R&D, and/or other food-related experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Advanced degree in food science, or related field, preferred.
- Thorough understanding of Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations, pertaining to the production of bottled water, preferred.
- Licensed HACCP Manager through NSF, International, preferred.
- Ability to assign work, recognize work-related needs, and make recommendations to pursue their successful conclusion.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal and customer-service skills.
- Must possess a valid and unrestricted state-issued driver's license.
- Ability to always maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams applications.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks, and have constant contact/interaction with various levels of individuals daily.
- Ability to attend on-site work during normal business hours, in the typical work week, as well as extra time as needed to fulfill job duties through regular attendance.
