Hours: 32-40 hours/week; varying based on surgery- Monday - Thursday 6:30/7:00am-end time vary depending on start times for the week

Position Overview: The Mohs Technician works under the direction of the Physician/Mohs Micrographic Surgeon and assists during Mohs surgical procedures. This position reports to the Practice Manager and/or Site Supervisor. Assisting with Mohs surgery may include preparing the procedure room by setting up surgical instruments and necessary supplies for specific procedures. Post procedure, this position is responsible for safe and proper specimen preparation and handling for laboratory testing. The Mohs Technician is also responsible for patient documentation and various other office duties.
The Journeys and Adventures that Await:
- Assist Physician/Mohs Micrographic Surgeon during Mohs procedures
- Prepare surgical/consent documents prior to surgery
- Prepare sterile surgical trays
- Process tissue as directed by Mohs surgeon
- Prepare quality slides for microscopic diagnosis on surgical specimens
- Assist with maintaining Mohs laboratory
- Prepare and maintain stock of reagents, standards and control materials for the performance testing at assigned workstations and notify supervisor of shortages or problems
- Maintain pathology, referral, melanoma, sterilization logs real time to ensure they are accurate and up to date
- Log any problems or equipment failures as per Mohs lab manual protocol
- Sterilize all instruments
- Prepare patient tissue by grossing and orient tissue accordingly for sectioning on Crytostat
- Uses Cytostat to cut frozen tissue sections.
- Stain and arrange specimen slides for Mohs surgeon.
- Assure efficient patient flow through the site
- Prepares and stocks general exam rooms
- Escorts patient to exam rooms, obtains accurate vital signs
- Documents patient's medical history.
- Scribe patient notes for physicians
- Review pre/ post visit instruction with patient
- Assist with callbacks and returning pharmacy refills
- Schedule patient for surgery, consultations, follow-up/wound check, suture removal
The Experiences You Bring:
- CPR certified
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor's Degree of Arts in Science required
- 2 years of experience with outpatient surgical procedures
- Dermatology Mohs or surgical center preferred
- 2 years documenting in an Electronic Medical Record
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge and ability to identify surgical instruments
