GENERAL FUNCTION
- Maintain a production environment of injection machines that will produce the highest quality optic lenses with the least amount of downtime and material waste.
- As a member of a high performance team you will be responsible for a variety of jobs. As the team progresses, you, along with your team members will be a key decision maker in the operation of your part of the business.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate and monitor precision injection molding machines. Perform process setup to conform to previously established ISO procedures.
- Perform changeovers (shutdown machine; remove mold; clean, prepare and replace inserts as necessary; restart machine)
- Perform on-line product audits. Record daily operational parameters, fill out logbooks, and enter necessary information into computer as applicable.
- Interpret process parameters and adjust parameters as necessary to ensure product is within determined specifications.
- Perform mold setups (disassemble, clean and prepare, reassemble); use forklift to hang molds.
- Perform cavity checks and audits.
- Perform audits using gauges to check powers, curves, stress and image; enter data into computer as required.
- Identify defects, keep track of defective products and change inserts as needed.
- Use microscopic analysis to identify root cause of defects.
- Provide assistance to other departments as needed.
- Assist Engineering to pull molds and restart machines.
- Provide assistance to Engineering and project teams as needed.
- Provide assistance to the next shift – ensure adequate inter-shift communication with regards to defects, machine performance and any other issues/concerns.
- Perform 100% line inspection and degating functions as required. Be diligent in the detection of issues such as mispacks.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of work performed or other reports as required.
- Maintain established quality standards. Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to supervisor. Ensure that work area(s) and equipment are maintained in a clean, orderly and safe condition, and prescribed safety measures are followed
- Is an active member of department and facility teams. Actively participates and shares knowledge with team members and other teams. Challenges the team with new ideas and models good work habits. Attends and participates in internal team meetings. Supports the success of the team and takes initiative and responsibility to ensure the team’s goals and objectives are met. Helps others to achieve and succeed with team objectives and supports the growth and development of his/her team.
- Supports the facility’s policies and procedures and is responsible for a healthy and safe team environment.
- Takes pride and ownership in his/her own work, the facility and the team area.
- Serves as a training resource.
- Participates and or supports in the STARpoint system and/or other teams.
- Supports the development of others.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Education equivalent to a high school diploma or GED.
- Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 1-2 Years’ experience in plastics manufacturing a plus.
