About the Job
We are looking for someone passionate about communication with the ability to anticipate and execute communication strategy and deliver for high level executives at one of NASA’s fascinating space centers in Houston, Texas. The desired candidate will also roll up their sleeves to write accurate engagement content on deadline with the right tone that is on brand with message alignment. The communication strategist for executive comms candidate will use their judgment to write talking points, anticipate needs, attend events, write social content, collaborate across orgs and be the person our NASA leaders can depend on so they can focus on engaging the workforce at NASA and engaging with the public and other important stakeholders about NASA’s mission.
- Developing and executing executive communications plan and strategy
- Drafting content and employee communication on behalf of the Johnson Space Center director including town hall meetings, social media channels, PowerPoint presentations, and other methods used for engaging with employees
- Writing speeches and talking points for internal and external events
- Drafting concise yet thorough briefing materials used to prepare for engagements
- Assisting executives with communication support including accompanying executives to events, verifying arrangements, preparing remarks
- Managing and executing media relations and media interviews for executives
- Track and maintain metrics for executive communications including events, products, social media accounts and content, and traditional media
- Building and maintaining relationships with members of the Johnson executive team to inform communications strategy and content
- Managing executive social media accounts by writing in the voice of/ghost writing
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, writing, or other appropriate area of specialization from an accredited college or university; and
- Proficient in:
- Advanced oral and written communications;
- Advanced writing and editing; and
- Advanced problem solving

If required, employees must be able to operate a motor vehicle which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time to visit other company sites. Must have hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. This position may require an employee to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb or balance, reach, push, and pull. The employee may also be required to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
