We are seeking a dedicated NOC Technician to monitor network events, perform high-level triage, and manage escalations and notifications in a 24x7 environment. The technician will communicate directly with customers and collaborate closely with the Tier 2 organization. The ideal candidate will have the ability to diagnose hardware, software, and system issues efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Monitor critical systems 24x7x365 and respond to customer support calls.
- Answer customer calls, create tickets, and perform initial triage for issue resolution.
- Monitor network alarms, create tickets, and identify customer impact and urgency.
- Resolve issues using documented processes and run books.
- Escalate or assign tickets to appropriate internal teams if issues cannot be resolved within defined guidelines.
- Maintain accountability of incident tickets until closure by overseeing ticket progression.
- Communicate directly with customers to provide updates as necessary.
- Send incident updates and notifications to internal engineers, management, or external customers as per defined procedures.
- Verify and close tickets once incidents are resolved.
- Ensure smooth ticket handover during shift changes in line with operational guidelines.
Education/Certifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience.
Experience/Minimum Requirements
- Strong work ethic with multitasking ability.
- Capable of working independently while effectively utilizing direction, supervision, and training.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- 1-2 years of experience in telecommunications or similar fields.
- Understanding of standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the telecommunications field.
- Experience and understanding of some or all of the following areas: SONET, IP subnetting, Layer 2/3 routing, DWDM, and dark fiber services.
- Experience with equipment platforms such as Ciena Optical, Cisco Optical, Infinera, Juniper MX and EX series, MRV switches, Cisco routers, and switches.
- Understanding of NMS and EMS systems for troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Layer 2/3, BGP, IPv6, and/or JUNOS is a plus.
Additional Details
The base range for this contract position is $25 - $35/per hour, depending on experience.
Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
