Job Summary:
As a Naval Systems Lead, you will be responsible for leading the Navy-facing business for a small company with experience in small watercraft and autonomous system operations. You will be responsible for successful execution of current ongoing systems engineering work and for development of new concepts in this area for Sentiont and its clients.
You should have engineering and/or operational experience in small vessels, USVs, littoral and/or special operations. The ideal candidate will have a solid grounding in fundamental engineering or physical science and have broad curiosity about new developments in precise navigation and timing (PNT), operation in degraded environments (EMCON and/or without GPS) and have knowledge of the systems engineering and full life cycle production and deployment. The goal is to take a problem from the initial concept through R&D, engineering and delivery to the customer.

Sentiont is a consultancy specializing in machine learning applications for engineering. Our mission is to develop a safer and more efficient world through the automatization of dangerous tasks and through advances in human-computer collaboration for AI-capable tasks. Currently, we are working on machine learning research and applications of naval engineering with the University of South Alabama in Mobile, AL (the Gulf Coast) and Auburn University in Auburn, AL, with an intent to expand collaboration with universities and other research institutions along the East Coast. Our business is headquartered in Falls Church, VA (the D.C. area).

Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related quantitative field is preferred.
- Proven experience in embedded systems design with preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems is required.

- Ability to clearly and concisely present ideas, reports, and budgets in various forms to the company and its clients.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, Google Workplace or related software.
- Ability to work onsite full-time in Mobile, AL. Some travel is required.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Up to 30% time working in an outdoor environment, with watercraft.

Estimated Compensation Range: [$110,000 - $135,000]
