Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Opportunity in West Central PA
Penn Highlands Healthcare is actively seeking a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner to work in our Level IIIB NICU at Penn Highlands DuBois.
- The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner will work under the supervision of the attending Neonatologist to provide the highest level of care to high-risk neonates in our 16 bed, Level IIIB NICU at Penn Highlands DuBois.
- As part of a multidisciplinary team, the NNP will function not only as an integral health care provider but as an educator and advisor to a group of Neonatal Nurses.
- This NNP position is full time, and with a negotiable schedule, could be utilized as an additional income opportunity.

Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and provide comprehensive management of acute and chronic conditions of high-risk neonatal patients
- Order, conduct and interpret diagnostic and laboratory tests
- Prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmocologic therapies
- Communicate with the families of neonates, providing information on the condition and plan for their baby in a compassionate manner
- Write daily progress notes and function to the equivalent of a resident physician
- Attend high-risk deliveries, consults, ER consults, all NICU patients and admissions of greater than or equal to 34 weeks (Neonatologist will assist with complicated cases and situations above NNP comfort level)
- Support education of NICU staff
- Occasional high-risk transport, nursery consults and/or newborn assessments while in house (may be negotiable)
Requirements:
- Masters Degreen in Nursing from accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Program
- Current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse licensure and certification as a Nurse
- Practitioner from a Board-Recognized National Certifying Organization
- NRP and Healthcare Provider CPR Certification from the American Heart Association
- S.T.A.B.L.E. Certification (preferred)
