About the Role: Bowler Pons is looking for an experienced network administrator/engineer to join our team of senior professionals providing IT, network engineering, and cybersecurity support to a federal government client.
Responsibilities may include:
- Providing network engineering support for a broad range of programs, to include planning, designing, and evaluating various components of the assigned network
- Providing specifications for network architecture
- Performing needs assessments and evaluating/recommending new technologies to enhance current capabilities
- Installing, configuring, managing, monitoring, modifying, testing, and/or servicing of network equipment
- Resolving highly complex problems using application and interpretation of technical knowledge, conceptualizing, and deductive reasoning
- Conducting research on and implementing network engineering best practices
- Performing engineering analysis of telecommunications alternatives in support of strategic modernization and enhancement efforts for medium and large-scale telecommunication infrastructures
- Implementing and configuring specific network solutions to support server requirements, to include load-balancing, virtual private networks, firewalls, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), Internet Protocol Security (IPSec), and cryptographic solutions
- Creating and updating technical documentation and providing timely communications regarding network and system availability, performance, and issues
- United States citizenship
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline
- CompTIA Security certification
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Enterprise certification (Mandatory)
- At least seven (7) years of experience as a Network Engineer
- At least three (3) years of experience installing patches, performing system updates, and managing server and storage processing strategies
- Experience managing the daily operational requirements of computer network systems, file servers, and web servers
- Experience managing restricted-access networks, such as classified or research networks
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise
- Experience with cybersecurity and networking best practices (NIST 800-171 and related standards)
- Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation
- Strong analytic and communication skills
- Ability to master new technologies and processes quickly
- Good time management skills
- Commercial and business awareness and an interest in applying/integrating new technologies
