Job Description Fugro Satellite Positioning Service Line supports your offshore work with a global network of reference stations, monitoring signals from GNSS (GPS, GLONASS, Beidou and Galileo) satellites and generating corrections to significantly improve the accuracy of unaugmented GNSS signals. Correction messages are transmitted to vessels via a robust, fault-tolerant broadcast infrastructure, providing precise, reliable, real-time satellite positioning that is accurate worldwide, to just a few centimeters. The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the company’s network infrastructure to ensure the highest levels of performance, security, and availability. This role requires a deep understanding of network protocols, hands-on experience with network hardware and software, and the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in both the theoretical and practical aspects of networking, with an emphasis on problem-solving and optimization. Job Responsibilities Design and implement scalable and secure network solutions that meet business requirements. Plan and deploy new network hardware and software upgrades. Configure and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and other network devices. Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability. Perform regular network performance tuning and capacity planning. Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues promptly. Conduct regular network maintenance, including patch management and firmware updates. Implement and enforce network security policies and procedures. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Maintain detailed network diagrams and documentation. Create and implement network procedures and configurations. Generate reports on network performance, issues, and improvements. Work closely with other team members to support overall network infrastructure. Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior network engineers. Collaborate with vendors and service providers for network-related services and support. Job Requirements Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions. Possess current driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record. BSc or MSc degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Relevant certifications (CCNP, JNCIP) are highly desirable. Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in network engineering, with a focus on designing, implementing, and managing complex network environments. Experience with cloud networking (AWS) Familiarity with automation tools and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible). Proficiency in network protocols and services (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF). Proficiency in IPv4 and IPv6 addressing. Experience with IPv4 and IPv6 multicast configuration. Extensive experience with Cisco and Juniper network hardware and software. Strong understanding of firewall technologies, VPNs, and network security practices. Experience with network monitoring and management tools. Extensive experience with Linux systems and shell scripting. Excellent troubleshooting skills. What’s in it for you?
