Position Summary: We are seeking a qualified candidate who will provide comprehensive medical care, including assessments, diagnoses, treatments, and follow-ups to patients. The Nurse Practitioner works collaboratively with medical providers to ensure high standards of care and compliance with healthcare regulations specific to the corrections environment.

Position Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough physical assessments of patients in response to complaints, establish nursing diagnoses, and collaborate with providers for treatment planning.
- Monitor and manage medication administration, ensuring timeliness, compliance by inmates, and effectiveness according to established protocols. Report and address any variances in treatment regimens.
- Perform sick call triage, physical assessments, and diagnostic tests per Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Maintain compliance with unit inspections and corrections health services standards.
- Respond to medical emergencies promptly and effectively.
- Obtain and process samples and specimens for laboratory examinations.
- Assist physicians in clinical settings and perform routine clinic tasks as needed.
- Participate in the education and training of unit staff regarding health procedures and protocols.
- Supervise line staff and oversee daily operations within the clerical areas of the unit.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall function of the healthcare unit.
Possesses the Ability to:
- Provide high-quality patient care and accurate medical assessments.
- Adhere to protocols and standards specific to the corrections environment.
- Communicate effectively with patients, medical staff, and correctional officers.
- Handle emergency situations with composure and efficiency.
- Maintain detailed and accurate medical records and documentation.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and medical providers.
Required Experience and Education:
- Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current and valid Florida license as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from a recognized national certification board.
- Minimum of one year of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner, preferably in a corrections or emergency care setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in emergency or critical care nursing.
- Previous experience working within a corrections facility.
- Advanced training or certification in a specialized area of practice.
Knowledge Of:
- Medical and clinical procedures, standards, and protocols applicable to the corrections environment.
- Medication administration and management in a controlled setting.
- Legal and ethical considerations in patient care within a correctional facility.
- Techniques for conducting physical assessments, diagnostic testing, and emergency response.
- Health and safety regulations specific to corrections health services.
