- Job Summary
- Under the supervision of the Stroke Center Medical Director and Stroke Center Coordinator implements inpatient stroke related performance improvement plans and processes using evidence based guidelines. Responds to all stroke activation pages during working hours to facilitate and assist in the identification and management of acute stroke patients. Assists in the training of professional nurses and other staff in areas related to clinical requirements and educational efforts of the stroke center. Assists in maintaining compliance with accrediting bodies. Facilitates patient care with daily rounding on stroke patients.
- Job Requirements
- Education
- Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Experience
- Preferred: 5 years neurological nursing experience
- Skills
- Demonstrates leadership skills
- Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure
- Competency in the use of Microsoft Office computer applications
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Demonstrates knowledge of neuroanatomy and neurophysiology
- Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Required: RN License active in the state of Missouri AND NIHSS certification (within 90 days of hire) AND Alteplase t-PA credentialing (within 90 days of hire)
Required: BLS must be obtained with 90 days
Required: Must obtain ACLS within one year of hire
- Preferred: ABNN certification as a neuroscience and/or stroke registered nurse (SCRN)
