Job Description: The OB Surgical Technician works in collaboration with the physician and RN in both clinical and clerical duties. The OB Technician must follow aseptic technique during obstetric/gynecological procedures and practice under the direction of the physician and OB nursing staff. After delivery the OB Technician is responsible for cleaning the procedure area and care of instruments per policies and procedures. Responsible for stocking the patient and/or delivery rooms with needed supplies immediately postoperatively and ensuring surgical suites rooms are immediately accessible. The technician also provides careful attention to patients with delicate conditions while assisting with personal needs. Other duties may include administrative and/or clerical support, including, but not limited to, answering unit telephones and gathering patient information.
Job Requirements: Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and/or an accredited surgical technology program. At least 3 years of progressive operating room surgical technician experience and at least one year of recent obstetrical surgical technician experience required.
