POSITION SUMMARY:
Coordinates all aspects of billing for surgical procedures including supply, instrumentation and equipment costs ensuring accurate revenue charge generation for department.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Minimum:
Graduate of Surgical Technologist or Registered Nursing program or extensive experience and knowledge of OR procedures and supplies.

- Must have Microsoft Tools experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

Excellent organizational and meticulous attention to detail skills.
•
Must be able to read, write legibly and communicate effectively in English.
•
Basic computer skills .
•
Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill verification tools required.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES:
•
Audits, prepares and enters daily patient billing data including charges for surgical supplies, instrumentation and equipment based on case cart requisitions following established department procedures.
•
Verifies surgical supply, instrumentation and equipment charges ensuring accuracy of billing and maintaining confidentiality of position acquired information.
•
Supervises, educates and orients staff on the correct procedures for accurate computer entry and processing of billing data.
•
Utilizes knowledge of surgical procedures and supplies to interpret billing data, ensuring appropriate charge codes are utilized to generate accurate patient billing.
•
Effectively interacts and communicates in at timely fashion with Operational Supervisor, OR Staff and Materials Management staff regarding charges for special orders.
•
Serves as a department resource for all staff on the proper documentation and communication of use and charging of supplies on case carts and in Omnicell.
