OSP Design Engineer
Reports to: Sr. Design and Engineer Manager
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Job Summary:
The OSP Design Engineer at Wecom Fiber assists with the design and implementation of Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) networks. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of FTTH design experience and proficiency in GIS/CAD software. The OSP Design Engineer will play a critical role in developing efficient and cost-effective solutions, ensuring the successful deployment of fiber optic networks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and engineer FTTH networks, including fiber optic cables, ducts, poles, and associated infrastructure.
- Utilize GIS and CAD software to create detailed OSP design drawings, route maps, and construction plans.
- Conduct thorough site surveys and assessments to gather accurate data for OSP design projects.
- Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and clients to ensure alignment with project requirements and timelines.
- Apply industry standards, best practices, and regulations in OSP and fiber optic network design.
- Provide technical support and guidance during OSP construction, installation, and testing phases.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design-related challenges to optimize network performance and reliability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or related experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in FTTH design and OSP engineering.
- Proficiency in GIS/CAD software tools (e.g., ArcGIS, AutoCAD) for OSP design and documentation.
- Strong understanding of OSP and fiber design principles, including cable management, routing, and splicing.
- Knowledge of fiber optic network technologies, components, and installation methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information effectively.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects concurrently.
- Certification in OSP design, fiber optics, or related disciplines is advantageous.
- Familiarity with OSP design software programs.
- Experience with aerial and underground fiber optic network design and deployment.
- Knowledge of OSP construction practices, permitting requirements, and ROW (Right-of-Way) considerations.
- Proficiency in project management principles and tools for coordinating OSP design projects effectively.
- Understanding of network planning, capacity management, and fiber optic network optimization techniques.
