Job Summary:
The Occupational Health (OH) Paramedic will collect and convey information to both their team members regarding the health status of employees. The OH Paramedic will perform all duties identified in their job description and validated by competency assessment under the License of the Physician Medical Director. They will report to the Manager of Occupational Health. They will serve as a member of the Healthcare team through active communication; documentation; feedback and assistance as needed or requested. The OH Paramedic will provide for patient safety. Attend meetings and in-services as required by departmental policy. Contributes to the growth and development of self and department. Maintains an active involvement. Maintains good working relationship co-workers and other hospital staff. Maintains competence with charting system.
What You Will Do In Your Role:
- Collaborates with the OH team to ensure appropriate delivery of care for a group of healthcare workers according to policy and procedure and the standards of care
- Ensures appropriate delivery of care for healthcare workers according to policy and procedure
- Evaluates outcomes of care, consults with other disciplines as required and documents the plan of care as necessary to ensure optimal service and care to hospital’s policies and procedures
- Provides appropriate, direct care in assigned area(s).
- Documents observations, interventions and pertinent data and maintains other required documentation.
- Demonstrates professional practice/conduct at all times
The Paramedic must be able to prioritize work and duties well and must work well under stressful situations. They have to demonstrate good communication and customer service skills with a variety of patients, physicians, and other health care providers both internal and external to the organization, and must make accurate clinical decisions and judgments quickly.
What qualifications you will need:
- Completion of an accredited Paramedic training program.
- American Red Cross or American Heart Association (BLS OR BCLS, ALS OR ACLS, PALS) Course Completion and Certification. Paramedic by the Texas Department of Health.
- 1 year required hospital and/or field training
- Current American Heart Association BLS Certification is required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Emergency Medical Paramedic (EMP)High School Graduate / GED
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
