Occupational Therapist
Location: Salisbury, MD
Duration: Fulltime
Description:
Must have at least 2 years of recent acute care experience. BLS must be American Heart Association. MD license required by time of start. Patient load is typically 9 to 10 per day, all inpatient. Will do all charting/documentation in McKesson, HEC system, so must be familiar with computerized documentation.
The Occupational Therapist is a licensed professional who is responsible for performing Occupational Therapy services for inpatients and/or outpatients. The Occupational Therapist is involved in assisting the Supervisor in compiling reports, data, etc. The therapist is responsible for the evaluation, assessment, treatment planning, splinting, patient and community relations, education, implementation and delivery of occupational therapy services to ensure positive patient outcomes.
Job Requirements:
Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Ability to read and communicate in the English language.
Mental Demands:
Uses knowledge and judgment needed to meet the treatment needs of patients and families.
Often works under the pressure of time and accuracy in accomplishing patient care.
Demonstrates effective communication skills.
Contact with Others:
Has almost constant contact with patients and families requiring skill in communication, motivation and teaching.
Works effectively with medical staff, department managers, nursing personnel and administration.
Maintains cooperative working relationships both inter and intra-departmentally.
Additional Information
Special procedures and requirements.
Med surg, decondition (surgical pats), ICU/MCICU (open heart) patients. Assist with large population of ortho patients. Assist with patients in the “joint camp” also. Responsible for 8 to 12 patients a day – 24 units done daily, average unit = 15 minutes.
Type of equipment.
Computerized documentation will train on. (McKesson, HEC system).
Licensure and Certification requirements.
Maryland State licensure. CPR certification.
