Daily Tasks & Responsibilities of Occupational Therapy Assistants:
- Implement occupational therapy treatment plans and home education programs under the supervision of a licensed occupational therapist
- Make progress with patients mastering activities of daily living (ADL) such as dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Contribute to the development of engaging and goal-oriented play-based interventions.
- Monitor and document patient progress, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
- Contribute to reassessment and re-evaluation of progress that leads to discharge for all goals met.
- Assist with standardized assessments at the guidance of your Occupational Therapist Supervisor.
- Collaborate with and supervise Therapy Aides, Clinical Students, Interns, & Volunteers at a project level.
- Provide ongoing support to children and families, ensuring a positive and encouraging therapeutic experience.
- Celebrate patient success such that they are an inspiration for others!
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant Program according to AOTA & ACOTE standards.
- Certification obtained from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
- Licensed and/or eligible for licensure as a. Occupational Therapy Assistant as required in the state of Kentucky.
- Ability to develop creative and engaging therapy activities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
Additional Skills
- Experience in pediatric settings is a plus, but new graduates are welcome to apply!
- Knowledge of pediatric therapy techniques and interventions such as: sensory integration therapy, assistive technology, adaptive equipment, behavior management strategies
- Ability to adapt therapy approaches to meet the needs of individual clients
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Passion for working with children and helping them achieve their full potential
