Title: Cultural Program Coordinator
Location: Old Harbor, Alaska
Reports to: Old Harbor Office Manager
Employee Status: Full-Time
Salary: DOE
Position Description: Provide Cultural Activities for the youth weekly, including but not limited to; Alutiiq dance practice, regalia making, beading, and weaving, planting and harvesting at the farm, jarring, dehydrating, and smoking fish and meat; provide cultural projects to facilitate at the Old Harbor School, Preschool and Nuniaq Center. Maintain school and OHNC Office Hydroponics Cabinet.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
-Responsible for the development and coordination of extracurricular activities for youth at the Nuniaq Center:
· Organizing and advertising of weekly after-school activities for youth
· Ordering supplies and materials for organized activities
· Providing supervision and guidance of various youth activities (beading, sewing, Alutiiq dancing, carving, outdoor activities, subsistence processing and preserving, board games, traditional games, and more)
-Old Harbor School:
· Providing regular weekly support to teachers and students
· Providing support for special events and activities at the school
· Providing support and educational material for the hydroponic system at the school
· Coordinate the planting and caring of seedlings in the Spring for the Sitkalidak Sunrise Farm
· Maintain Hydroponics Cabinet and deliver to Elders
-Old Harbor Preschool:
· Provide regular weekly support to teachers and students
· Provide support for special events and activities at the preschool
· Research of preschool material and support of teachers for curriculum
· Work to incorporate Alutiiq language into all programs
-Old Harbor Office:
· Provide support on community projects
· Take photos of community events
· Maintain Hydroponics Cabinet and deliver to Elders
-Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Job Requirements
• Demonstrates ability to be detail-oriented
• Excellent knowledge of proper grammar and spelling
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks as necessary to ensure a timely response on all projects
• General knowledge of clerical procedures and practices
• Good problem-analysis, assessment and communication skills
• Demonstrate strong judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Excellent skills in planning, organizing, time and work management
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs for various projects
• High school diploma
• Must obtain food handlers safety card
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Ability to lift 20 lbs. or more
• Ability to sit for extended periods
• Limited travel required
