Operations Manager

General Function

Direct and monitor all transportation activities including dispatching, work distribution, and supervision of street operations to ensure safe, reliable, and responsive service within the division.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily transit operations and administration to ensure compliance with company, federal, state, local, and contractual requirements.
• Ensure conformity with company goals and responsiveness to customer expectations.
• Manage the investigation and recording of customer feedback, including complaints and commendations.
• Communicate performance expectations to Transportation Supervisors and Bus Operators. Regularly monitor and evaluate performance, offering constructive feedback for improvement.
• Coach and counsel Bus Operators and Supervisors regarding performance. Provide recognition and administer discipline, including terminations, as per company policies and procedures.
• Lead discussions with union representatives and employees regarding labor issues. Work amicably to resolve issues and assist in investigations, documentation, and meetings regarding disciplinary actions and grievances.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in public transportation operations management
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Familiarity with federal, state, and local transit regulations
• Experience in labor relations and union environments
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Proficiency in relevant computer applications and reporting systems
