Our missionis to provide superb clinical care to our patients, educate the next generationof orthopaedic surgeons and expand the orthopaedic knowledge base through basic,clinical and translational research utilizing excellent, evidence-based,efficient patient care along with thorough and responsive consultation in orthopaedicspine services for orthopaedic patients across the health system. Chief Purpose of this position: We are seeking candidates todirectly care for patients in the orthopaedic spine service line. The candidatewill improve quality and efficiency of orthopaedic services at VCU HealthSystem and provide prompt high-quality orthopaedic spine care. The incumbentwill assist and develop orthopaedic faculty with interest in new technologies,clinical research and teaching along with mentoring residents and fellows andworking within the hospital system and with other departments to provide multidisciplinarycare for orthopaedic spine patients. The candidate will staff inpatient services with learnersincluding medical students, interns and residents; use contemporary adultlearning methods to promote evidence-based practice; demonstrate effectiveteaching skills and continually develop as a teacher for learners at alllevels; complete required evaluations of learners in a timely manner.
Thecandidate will participate in clinical and administrative research, accordingto skills, interest and funding; research opportunities may include performanceimprovement initiatives or formal extramurally funded investigations;participation may be as principal investigator or co-investigator; maintain alevel of scholarship in Orthopaedic Surgery consistent with academic rank.
The candidate will work with institutional staff andadministration to attain the strategic objectives of VCU Health System,including patient safety, patient and other customer satisfaction, maintenanceand enhancement of public perception, and fiscal health.
The candidate will admit and manage patients who presentthrough the orthopaedic spine service, co-management of patients on otherservices, triage medicine patient requiring admission in the EmergencyDepartment and non-medical services and non-VCU hospitals; join colleagues inassuring coverage 24-hours a day, every day of the year; comply in a timelymanner with all institutional policies for professional work includingcredentialing, documentation, billing; work effectively with other members ofthe extended inter-professional team.
The candidate will ensure compliance with all regulatory andregulatory reimbursement requirement.
