About the Job
- Recruits, trains, and screens all Hospital and Hotline Advocates (volunteers) and Children’s Advocacy Center Family Advocates (volunteers).
- Provides new volunteers with orientation and training to ensure they are aware of the MRCCAC’s goals, policies, and procedures.
- Prepares all training materials for volunteer training.
- Trains new staff members to be Hospital and Hotline Advocates.
- Schedules Hospital and Hotline Volunteers for On-Call Shifts.
- Maintains On-Call schedule and provides it to staff and MDT partners.
- Keeps the Volunteer Box supplied with materials needed for SANE exams.
- Maintains volunteer information, background checks, and all pertinent documents.
- Keeps record of all volunteer hours for statistical reports.
- Makes out the yearly On-Call schedule for staff.
- Documents Continuing Education hours for Rape Crisis and CAC volunteers.
- Submits documentation to the Office of the Attorney General to keep the Sexual Assault Training Program certification-this includes submitting all training materials and the training schedule and agenda to the OAG’s office.
- Plans and organizes Volunteer Appreciation events and recognition awards.
- Plans and coordinates outreach and awareness events.
- Assists with fundraising campaigns (during and after business hours).
- Participates in the center’s 24-hour On-Call rotation.
- Other duties as assigned.
This position requires a bachelor’s or associate's degree in social work or a similar field as it relates to the mission and objectives of the Midland Rape Crisis and Children's Advocacy Center. Education and qualifications may be substituted with at least 1 year of experience in a human services/social work field.
- Excellent written and oral communication.
- Ability to effectively organize a variety of tasks and deal with a wide variety of people.
- Able to work with all victims of sexual assault, sexual abuse, and child abuse without bias or prejudice regarding prostitution, drug abuse, abortion, use of alcohol, differences in abilities, age, race, sexual orientation, creed, or religious affiliation.
- Experience working with diverse professionals from DFPS officials, Law Enforcement, the District Attorney’s Office, and related community services.

This is a grant-funded position. As such, employment in this role is contingent upon the availability of grant funds. MRCCAC makes every effort to secure ongoing funding; however, there is no guarantee of continued employment beyond the grant period.

The MRCCAC provides support, hope, and healing for survivors of sexual assault and child abuse in the Permian Basin and surrounding counties. Our goal is to eradicate all forms of abuse through education and empowerment, but until that day we will provide every service possible for survivors to help them move forward.How We Got StartedIn 1979, the Midland Rape Crisis Center opened its doors and began providing sexual assault services to sexual assault survivors. The agency was the product of a group of individuals and law enforcement representatives who were concerned about rape and its consequences.In September 1996, the Center proudly added the Children’s Advocacy Center program. The Children’s Advocacy Center program was established in an effort to enhance the sensitivity and responsiveness of the criminal and civil justice systems to victims of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse. The Center added a satellite office in Andrews County in 2007 and in Howard County in 2018.Where We Are NowThe agency is now known as the Midland Rape Crisis and Children’s Advocacy Center. The Center has expanded its comprehensive services to help survivors of sexual assault, survivors of sexual abuse as well as survivors of homicide victims in Midland, Andrews, Big Spring, and surrounding counties.
