Are you a detail-oriented professional with a knack for sourcing, managing inventory, and negotiating the best deals? We're looking for a Pharmacy Buyer to help us provide top-quality medications and supplies to support our healthcare team and patients.
Under the Direction of the Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmacy Buyer is responsible for procuring medications and supplies from appropriate vendors and ensuring proper storage to maintain their quality and integrity. The Pharmacy Buyer performs inventory management activities that ensure adequate stocks of medications, purchasing contract compliance, effective cost management, and compliance with laws and regulations.
Minimum Job Requirements:
* High School Degree or GED
* Active National Pharm Tech Cert (CPhT) is required Approved cert is through Pharm Tech Cert Board (PCTB) AND ExCPT Cert by the National Healthcareer Association.
* Active registration with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician
* 1-2 years experience Technical Pharmacy Experience
* Must be as a Pharmacy Technician III or Lead/Automation Technician
Desired Skills/Knowledge:
* Strong interpersonal, analytical, organization, and problem solving skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively with diverse multidisciplinary teams.
* Experience in pharmacy purchasing or inventory management.
In this role, you'll:
* Establishes effective working relationships and maintains open and active communication with pharmacy leadership, system pharmacy buyer, pharmacists, technicians, and vendors. Communicates in real time with pharmacy leadership and system pharmacy buyer about drug shortages, back order status, and other inventory-related issues. Clearly articulates ideas and thoughts through written and verbal communications.
* Ensures that the pharmaceutical inventory and supplies are adequate to meet the needs of day-to-day operations.
* Procures medications from wholesaler and manufacturer based on established or projected inventory needs.
* Assists in setting inventory par levels necessary to meet patient needs in regards to historical usage, patient mix and disease states, and financial parameters. Expedites delivery of products as requested to meet patient needs.
* Coordinates all aspects of the procurement of pharmaceuticals and supplies in appropriate locations and under proper storage conditions, in compliance with regulatory regulations and organizational policies/procedures. Verifies accuracy of medications and troubleshoots issues that arise. Confirms that drug products and corresponding barcodes are entered into the databases (pharmacy automation, Epic medication lists). Manages the drug inventory by adjusting par levels as needed, avoiding stock-outs and medication waste. Processes and arranges for final disposition of unusable medications and manages recalls immediately. Maintains controlled substance inventory ordering and receiving.
* Maintains drug and supply expenses within budget., prepares invoices, and prepares month end reports and inter-departmental billing. Returns and receives credit for outdated and damaged merchandise. Responsible for formulary changes that are approved by the P&T Committee by meeting assigned deadlines for implementation of the decisions. Optimizes inventory management with par level adjustments, and recommends to pharmacy leadership/system pharmacy buyer product deletion due to low usage or product standardization.
* Takes the lead in identifying purchasing and pharmacy inventory opportunities in process improvements.
* Monitors and anticipates drug shortages, developing solutions before drug stocks are critically depleted.
