PR Specialist, Sustainability & Community Impact - Amazon

Description Amazon is seeking a high-judgment and self-motivated communications professional to join our Sustainability & Community Impact team. This team amplifies positive stories on how Amazon is using its scale for good, and innovating to strengthen communities around the world. Specifically, this person will focus on Amazon's Education pillar, setting strategy, executing external campaigns and creating an ongoing drumbeat of PR moments around the Amazon Future Engineer program, our partnership with Code.org, and AWS Skills training work, among other topics in this pillar. They will play an important role identifying trends, working across business leaders as well as across the communications and public policy organizations to drive storytelling in this area. This position is for someone who can think big, is a self-starter and highly proactive, has a bias for action and consistently insists on high standards. The successful candidate will be able to work with press, is a strong writer, and has creative chops - in addition, this person should be able to communicate clearly, collaborate well, and be a strong team player. The position can be based in Seattle or Arlington, VA. Key job responsibilities Build and maintain relationships with key media outlets/reporters to develop stories and drive proactive news moments. Think big with an ability to create and drive both short term and long term plans. Work across several teams, and team members with a desire to collaborate--in addition to staying flexible and open to feedback. Ability to work with senior leaders and executives to provide counsel and direction. High standards for writing, with proven track record of drafting press releases, blog posts, media pitches and/or internal planning documents. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $68,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $147,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
