Job Summary:
As an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) at Emerald Nursing and Rehab Columbus,, you will play a crucial role in providing therapeutic services to patients in a skilled nursing facility. Under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist, you will assist in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans aimed at improving patients' ability to perform daily living activities, enhancing their quality of life, and facilitating their overall rehabilitation goals.

This position operates in a clinical healthcare environment.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Implement treatment plans as developed by the Occupational Therapist. Assist patients with therapeutic exercises, activities, and functional tasks. Monitor and document patient progress, including physical and emotional responses to therapy. Educate patients and their families on strategies to improve daily functioning and independence.
- Assessment and Documentation: Participate in patient evaluations and assessments, providing relevant input to the Occupational Therapist. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, progress, and any changes in condition. Ensure compliance with facility policies, state regulations, and professional standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Occupational Therapist and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care. Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members regarding treatment plans and progress. Attend and contribute to team meetings and case conferences as needed.
- Patient Safety and Compliance: Adhere to infection control and safety protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients. Follow facility procedures for handling equipment and materials used in therapy. Stay updated with continuing education and professional development to maintain licensure and enhance clinical skills.
- Administrative Duties: Assist with scheduling patient appointments and managing therapy equipment. Participate in facility-wide quality improvement initiatives and contribute to program development.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant program from an accredited institution.
- Licensure: Current state licensure or certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
- Experience: Previous experience in a skilled nursing facility or similar setting preferred, but not required.
