Who we are:
Stanton Norfolk Inc. is a division of Asian Americans for Equality, Inc. (AAFE) that manages the day-to-day operations of over 800 units of affordable housing across nearly 50 multifamily properties serving over 1,100 individuals and families in Manhattan and Queens neighborhoods, including Chinatown/Lower East Side, Flushing, and the Far Rockaways. Currently, Stanton Norfolk’s portfolio is comprised of full tax credit / affordable properties, as well as commercial spaces as part of mixed-use buildings. We pride ourselves in providing a full breadth of management services to provide quality, safe, and affordable housing; maintenance; financial reporting; and resident relations.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Managing Director of Property Management, the Resident Coordinator is responsible for providing light-touch social services to Stanton Norfolk low income residents. This is an exciting time at Stanton Norfolk and this 40 hours per-week, full-time position brings with it much potential for growth and long-term, full-time possibilities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Engage and provide light-touch services and regular contact with tenants to ensure client housing retention, including rental assistance applications and renewals, rental arrear support, internal referrals for entitlement and benefits social services and external referrals for workforce, education, mental health programs.
- Work collaboratively with AAFE Residential Services team to develop a strong sense of community within the AAFE tenant population, this includes promoting and encouraging AAFE tenant attendance to AAFE events, workshops, clubs and pantries.
- Participate in meetings and trainings as required. Ensure timely communication with the landlord regarding tenant status.
- Maintain thorough, timely and accurate progress notes, files, and correspondences
- Perform unit inspections and follow-up as needed.
- Regular attendance is a requirement of the position
- Follow policies and procedures, complete administrative tasks accurately and on time and support organizational goals and values.
- Perform other related work and duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Candidates are expected to meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field.
- Experience as a Housing Specialist or Housing Case Manager is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to present information to a diverse customer base- specifically racially, ethnically and socially diverse.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials and information
- Strong organizational skills with demonstrated attention to detail and focus.
- Ability to quickly gain knowledge of local communities and resources.
- Experience working with low-income individuals in diverse communities, a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (specifically MS Word and Excel) and Google Documents.
- Bilingual in English/Chinese or English/Spanish is required.
COMPENSATION:
AAFE and Stanton Norfolk offers rich benefits, recognition, opportunities for professional growth and competitive salaries. Salary offers will be based on the candidate’s experience in similar roles and will fall between a range of $45,000 - $50,000.
