INTERNSHIP POSITION SUMMARY
The School-Based Learning Intern will make important contributions to our educational programs and outreach. The intern will delve into the world of museum education by leading, organizing, planning, and facilitating art-making lessons and workshops. The intern will lead teachers and pre-service students through enriching programs while also offering resources. The intern will play an active role in designing educational programs while also incorporating their own artistic interest.
This position is a 12-week temporary position lasting from February to April. The intern will work anywhere from 15-20 hours per week, which will include some weeknight evening hours.
ESSENTIAL INTERNSHIP FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting directly to the Associate Director of School-Based Learning, duties include, but are not limited to:
- Lead programs, projects and art-making
- Prepare materials for projects and workshops
- Collaborate with team members to develop lesson plans and worksheets in areas of interest
- Provide overall support to programming
- Develop market strategies by taking photographs and creating promotional materials
- Attend departmental meetings
- Other duties as assigned
INTERNSHIP MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Upper-level undergraduate or new graduate in art education, education, museum studies, or a related field
- Teaching experience at any age level
- Experience creating lesson plans, worksheets, and handouts
- Public speaking, administrative and marketing experience a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to collaborate with diverse groups of people
- Some being on feet required during programming
Compensation details: 12-15 Hourly Wage
