PathPoint seeks a part-time Parent Educator to join our Kids & Family Together division in Ventura, CA. You are a self-starter who can work interdependently and knows when to enlist help or guidance. About PathPoint: PathPoint is a nonprofit dedicated to helping people flourish. We partner with children, adults, and families to foster hope, build life skills, access support systems, and form meaningful relationships. We serve communities across Kern, Los Angeles, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties.
What You'll Do:
- Work with families to teach, model, and support the families' acquisition of parenting skills to maintain children in their homes or to return them to the home setting.
- Complete case documentation in a database.
- Provide support and education around childcare, cooking, shopping, budgeting, nutrition, life skills, etc., to improve family self-sufficiency.
- Model effective parenting techniques and teach parents about appropriate discipline and nurture for their child's developmental needs
- Teach families about community resources and link them to appropriate services (e.g. food pantry, mental health providers, housing, and dental care resources as needed); follow up with providers to ensure families are connected
- Collaborate with social workers, other service providers, and program managers.
- Help build the family's natural support system by referring and linking the family to resources.
- Attend trainings, classes, and staff meetings.
What We're Looking For:
- High school diploma or equivalent at minimum with two years of experience in child development/behavior management.
- Familiarity with Children and Family Services systems and supports.
- Demonstrate a high level of comfort, compassion, and professional manner when working with a diverse group of caregivers and their families.
- Self-motivated but able to comply with managers regarding contractual obligations.
- Well defined organizational and time management skills.
- Able to work remotely and independently, completing and submitting work on time.
- Experience and familiarity with MS Office Suite programs.
- Reliable transportation and willing to drive throughout Ventura County to provide services to clients in-home.
- Must have a valid California driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
- Good written and oral communication.
- Culturally aware, acknowledges diverse employee backgrounds, possesses skills to collaborate across cultures, and avoids biased assumptions based on cultural differences.
Compensation: Starting pay is $21.00 per hour. If you are bilingual, the starting pay is $22.00 per hour and the pay rage for this position is $20.00 to $24.00 per hour. The pay range is subject to change based on various factors.
