SPC Digital Communications Associate (DCA) Job Description
The purpose of the DCA is to create a warm, welcoming, and modern communications strategy for the Parish that connects the mission and ministry of the Parish with the surrounding community and beyond. The position is 25 hours a week, at least 2 days of which are in the office. This position also requires 1 to 2 Sundays a month in office to live-stream Sunday Service. The DCA works under the supervision of the Parish Administrator with final approval from the Rector on all communication strategies and messaging. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Communication Responsibilities
- Offer a warm welcoming and knowledgeable presence when working with staff, parishioners and community members on communications projects.
- Developing social media marketing strategy and branding for a social media footprint in general and for specific ministries, programs and events
- Manage all social media platforms:
- Create and supervise content posted
- Response to messages on social media and refer to appropriate parties
- Recommend new social media platforms to the Rector
- Design and update digital communications for parish events and external events including but not limited to:
- Worship
- Sermons
- Programs and Events
- Coordinate all parish communications for internal and external events including but not limited to the following:
- Communications checklist
- Press releases
- Posting to social media platforms
- Distribution of paper fliers
- Maintaining documentation of all digital work on Google Drive
- Save all digital work including photos and graphics on Google Drive
- Create and publish weekly and special e-blasts to the parish community.
- Send drafts for edit to the Parish Administrator by 12 p.m. on Wednesdays
- Maintain and update website, create new content and pages as needed
Education
- Training and higher education in marketing, advertising, graphic design and project management.
Skills Required
One year or more in the following:
† Website administration, email marketing, event promotion, photography and/or
video production
† Outstanding written and verbal communication skills including strong proofreading skills and attention to detail.
† Knowledge of public relations best practice, news media and publicity
† Ability to prioritize and organize work effectively and handle multiple projects
simultaneously while meeting deadlines. Thrive in a deadline or goal-driven environment.
† Ability to work within a team environment to keep communication messages
consistent with overall Parish mission and messaging goals.
† Results oriented with a demonstrated track record, strong problem-solving skills, sound time management skills and a self-starter.
† Dependable attendance/availability.
† Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) desirable, but not required
† Knowledge of InDesign and/or other design platforms
Preferable, not required.
- Experience in a non-profit environment, knowledge of the Episcopal Church
Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $18.00 - $20.00 Per Hour
