POSITION:School Nurse – BES Part-Time – COP Grant Funded
Provide nursing services to students and staff in compliance with local policy and state regulations. Support the Wellness and Health Education programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Provides health services to students who need medical assistance during the school day and in out-of-school time programs.
- Administers and/or monitors all medications taken by students during the school day and in out-of-school time programs as prescribed by written doctor’s orders.
- Provides training to school staff to support school health asappropriate.?
- Participates in multidisciplinary teams as appropriate.
- Conducts periodic health screenings as required by state law and Worcester County Public Schools.
- Maintains cumulative health and medical reports on all students as required by state law and Worcester County Public Schools.
- Develops, implements, andmaintainsIndividualized Health Care Plans and Emergency Action Plans.
- Monitors compliance with mandated immunizations and other required medical programs.
- Serves as liaison with the Worcester County Health Department.
- Assists with the evaluation of school-based health services program.
- Coordinates wellness activities for school staff.
- Maintains health room supplies and equipment.
- Participates in the Worcester County Health Council.
- Assists in providing nursing services when schools are opened as emergency shelters.
- Collaborates with WCPS Nurse Manager.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the principal, CPS Nurse Manager and Coordinator of School Health.
- Provide nursing services to students during Before and/or After School Academy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Registered Nurse license
- Current CPR Certification (BLS)
DUTY YEAR AND SALARY:
This is a part- time hourly position, 17.5 hours per week. Hours may vary depending on the needs of the school and will be determined by the principal. Salary is based on the Nurse’s Salary Scale.
