Overview
Fairview Health Services is hiring a Patient Access Specialist II to join our M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital location in Edina, MN.
This position interacts closely with patients, families, providers, and the multidisciplinary teams in a highly organized and professional manner. The Patient Access Services Rep II (PAS II) ensures the exceptional patient experience is achieved by displaying effective customer service, problem solving and communication skills in a friendly, thoughtful empathetic manner. The PAS Rep II is responsible for completing the registration process which includes scheduling and registration activities including insurance eligibility and point of service collections. Additionally, this role coordinates communication between unit-based staff, providers, other departments, and transcription of orders to, help to facilitate care progression of patients. Individuals in this role are expected to demonstrate behaviors that create a welcoming environment and must be able to articulate information in a manner that ensures patients and family members have clear expectations of their visit and understand their responsibilities.
Schedule: This position will be working 0.7 FTE (56 hours every two weeks). The shift length will be 8 hours on the overnight shifts with an every other weekend rotation.
OVERNIGHT shift from 11p-7:30a in the Emergency Department. Week 1- OFF Week 2- Monday thru Sunday

Responsibilities Job Description
Do you like being a first point of contact and creating a positive first impression? Then consider this role!! In this position you would have responsibility for completing the financial clearance process within Patient Access. The Patient Access Services Representative must be able to articulate information in a manner that patients, guarantors and family members understand and so know what to expect with regard to their responsibilities. Various action items include:
+ Completing the pre-registration, registration, insurance verification
+ Interviewing patients and guarantors to gather insurance information and verifying eligibility.
In this role you will also work with medical staff, nursing, ancillary departments, and insurance payors.
Qualifications
Required
+ One or more years of customer service experience and applicable computer knowledge and skills.
Preferred
+ Post-Secondary Education
+ One or more years of experience in a clinical setting with registration experience
+ Previous Epic experience
