Payor Specialist (Patient Collections)

Description:

• Review billing information, debt, and unpaid insurance claims.
• Verify accuracy of claims data, including CPT and HCPCS codes.
• Submit electronic and/or paper claims promptly.
• Contact insurance companies regarding outstanding bills.
• Negotiate repayment plans and resolve payment discrepancies.
• Monitor claim status and follow up on rejections and denials.
• Maintain accurate records of account activities, adjustments, and collections.
• Document interactions with patients and insurance companies.
• Interpret medical insurance cards and verify patient eligibility.
• Confirm coverage details and benefits.
• Provide excellent customer service to patients and address inquiries related to billing and collections.
• Explain payment options and assist with payment arrangements.
• Stay informed about changes in billing and coding practices.
• Collaborate with other departments (such as billing, finance, and customer service) to streamline processes.
