Job Summary:
Associate gathers information in the function areas of payment planning and insurance verification. He/she works independently with general supervision in order to pre-register all scheduled patients for services to be rendered, register patients as they present to clinic, verify insurance benefits, and collect patient payments. As time and volume permits, he/she will check patients out of clinic and schedule follow up appointments as well.
Job Functions:
Pre-register / register all scheduled patients for services to be rendered.
Scan copies of all registration forms and insurance cards and other required forms into EHR.
Responsible for insurance verification – benefits and eligibility.
Responsible for collection of co-pays / co-insurance and any outstanding balances due.
Schedule patients accurately within guidelines and protocols of practice.
Answer inbound telephone calls and, if necessary, route them appropriately.
Check patients out after clinic visit is completed.
Schedule future appointments, consults, testing, etc. in a timely and appropriate manner.
Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired concerning personal, financial, and medical or employment status of patients and their families.
Receive, interview, and register or check out patients using a positive and courteous tone.
Answer questions about patient bills and refer to Financial Navigator as necessary.
Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Required: Minimum Education:
High School Diploma or GED
