Payroll/Accounts Receivable Clerk
Supervises: No supervisory duties are included in this position.
Classification: Hourly Non-Exempt
Education and/or Experience·
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
- Experience processing payroll using Paychex is preferred.
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.
- Ability to operate computer and other general office equipment.
- Must have a strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Job Tasks/Duties
Accounts Receivable
- Maintains members’ records and accounts.
- Prepares and mails/emails member charges and statements and processes monthly billings.
- Receives and reconciles payments on accounts.
- Monitors delinquent accounts.
- Responds to member billing inquiries.
- Coordinates the resolution of member disputes with the appropriate department head and the member.
Payroll
- Maintains accurate payroll records.
- Coordinates with human resources on new hire paperwork and employee benefits deductions.
- Prepares all payroll-related journal entries.
- Maintains accurate records of pay rates for all employees.
- Reconciles monthly insurance statements and forwards billing to accounts payable for payment.
- Processes garnishment paperwork and updates employee files for payroll.
- Prepares 401(k) census annually and calculates employer 401(k) match.
- Prepares bi-weekly overtime report.
- Assists supervisors with troubleshooting Paychex.
- Reviews W-2s for year end.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, stand and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
