Our client is seeking a Payroll Analyst to oversee bi-weekly payroll operations for over 400 employees. The ideal candidate will play a key role within the HR team, ensuring payroll tasks are executed with precision, confidentiality, and integrity, safeguarding both employee trust and personal data. With a deep understanding of payroll systems, this highly motivated self-starter brings strategic thinking and meticulous attention to detail, continuously refining processes for accuracy, compliance, and top-tier service. This role works onsite five days a week.
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and timely processing of the bi-weekly payroll including expatriates for approximately 400 exempt and non-exempt employees in payroll and timekeeping systems.
- Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions, including daily payroll data such as new hires, terminations, compensation, and benefit changes, are processed accurately and timely in Paylocity.
- Partner with HRIS vendor to set up new state and local tax jurisdictions as needed.
- Assist with complex items that require extensive payroll knowledge such as multi-state taxation, year/quarter end reporting, and prior period wage adjustments.
- Coordinates with HR team for proper benefit and supplemental compensation set up and obtaining proper support and evidence of appropriate approving authorities for payroll disbursements in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Process terminations and manage final wage payments in accordance with applicable state laws
- Perform in-depth investigations and analysis to determine root cause of repeated problems to identify process gaps and continuous improvement opportunities and initiate corrective actions.
- Responsible for ensuring external vendors provide a timely and accurate payroll calculation and settlements in compliance with local labor regulations and corporate processes and set controls.
- Maintains up to date knowledge of federal, state, and local wage and employment laws.
- Support HR team and leadership team in producing HRIS analytics (i.e. turnover data, new hire/term reports, headcount trends, etc.)
- Ability to manage audits, delivering custom reporting, adhoc/special projects, and other duties that may be assigned to meet business needs.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Comprehensive knowledge of payroll and accounting principles, payroll taxes, payroll best practices, processes and procedures, and Department of Labor regulations is required
- Strong computer knowledge, including Microsoft applications, primarily Excel (VLOOKUP and PIVOT Tables) and MS Word are required
- Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical, organizational, problem solving, and time management skills are required
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work on multiple assignments concurrently
- Ability to work under pressure showing high commitment to payroll processing and reporting deadlines in a fast-paced environment is required
- Experience with Paylocity is highly preferred
