Job Title: Payroll Manager
Position Summary
As a Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all payroll and payroll accounting functions for both U.S.-based and international contract staff. This includes the meticulous preparation and verification of payrolls, ensuring compliance with statutory and voluntary deductions, maintaining accurate payroll records, and collaborating with payroll service providers for the preparation of federal, state, and local government reports and tax filings. This pivotal role reports directly to the Deputy CFO.
Position Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Human Resources for payroll and retirement plan payment approvals and changes. Develop an annual calendar for payroll processing.
- Implement a process to monitor changes in payroll, tax, and reporting procedures.
- Act as the finance liaison, working directly with the payroll service provider (ADP) and overseeing 403(b) and 401k plans (Principal).
- Support Accounting with reconciliations of all payroll-related accounts, input ADP General Ledger Interface (GLI) files into the financial system (Deltek), and identify/reconcile variances in the Job Cost Variance GL.
- Enter payroll and benefit general ledger entries into Deltek Vantagepoint.
- Prepare and enter payroll journal entries and cash disbursements for international employees.
- Submit payments for 403(b) and 401k retirement plan contributions and FSA contributions to Principal and Discovery, ensuring accuracy before submission.
- Prepare YTD reports for Third Party Administrator.
- Annually prepare and present audit reports for external auditors, retirement plan (403b) auditors, and workman's comp auditors.
- Contribute to the development of payroll policies and procedures.
- Provide support to staff on payroll questions through research and data interpretation.
- Support Finance with 990 compensation schedules and 5500 finance activities.
- Conduct 940 and 941 reconciliations.
- Handle ad-hoc tasks assigned by CFO or Deputy CFO/Controller.
Position Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; or equivalent years of experience.
- 10+ years of relevant work experience.
- Developing expertise in Payroll and Benefit Accounting.
- Knowledge of state and federal employment laws relating to key areas of responsibility.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Multilingual is a plus; Spanish is preferred.
- Proficiency in ADP (Workforce Now and Comprehensive Services) or comparable payroll software platforms.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point).
- Ability to operate self-sufficiently with minimal guidance and decisions from others.

-80K-90k based on qualifications
