VENTEON Finance is hiring a SR. PAYROLL TAX EXECUTIVE to provide support in downtown Detroit, MI. You will join a quality team of payroll professionals supporting high volume inhouse payroll operations. Serve on a team acting as subject matter expert for Federal, multi- State, Local, and Canadian payroll tax filings. Ensure tax compliance and resolve tax notices.
POSITION TYPE: Full Time, Direct, Hybrid (Onsite Monday and Tuesday). PAY: 90,000 to $ 110,000 annually based on education and directly relevant payroll, tax, and accounting skill level.
Requirements of the Sr. Payroll Tax Executive:
- Education Bachelor degree highly desirable. CPP Certification is desirable.
- High volume, multi state payroll processing work experience.
- Person experienced in a large multi company work environment.
- Direct experience with payroll taxation including rules, filings, (940/941, W2, etc.), compliance, and year end reporting.
- Experience setting up new tax jurisdictions and following up on tax notices.
- Accounting month end close experience including payroll general ledger entries and reconciliations.
- Technical: Understanding of HRIS, Human Capital Management (HCM) , and Workday a plus . Intermediate to advanced MS Excel.
- Support the Tax team by performing as a Payroll Tax Subject Matter Expert for a large company processing payroll inhouse.
- Perform regular audits of multistate and Canadian payroll tax filings. Perform specific audits at quarter end and year end.
- Lead payroll tax initiatives. Use knowledge and talent in multistate payroll processing to support payroll related projects and initiatives.
- Follow up on all payroll tax notices or penalty notices. Perform analysis and determine the reason for the notice. Take action by filing amended 940/941/W2C and correcting the process so the error does not occur in the future.
- Support the filing of 941's, SUI, State, and local taxes.
- Work with internal and external auditors to provide data regarding payroll taxes, workers comp, unemployment, etc.
- Provide support for primary contact for USA and Canada tax agencies.
- Work with the payroll department to enter and maintain changes in taxes in the payroll system.
- Support the Workday systems upgrade and educate the team in all new changes.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of changes to tax codes.
