Ledgent Finance & Accounting, a leader in providing staffing solutions is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage payroll for our construction client. The successful candidate will ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing.
Salary: $26-$35/ hourly, temp to hire
Key Responsibilities
- Payroll Processing: Accurately calculate and process weekly/bi-weekly payroll for construction employees across multiple clients, including timecards, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
- Client Support: Serve as the primary payroll contact for assigned construction company clients, providing timely responses and solutions to payroll-related inquiries.
- Compliance Management: Ensure payroll is processed in accordance with federal, state, and local labor laws, as well as union agreements (if applicable).
- Certified Payroll Reporting: Prepare and submit certified payroll reports for clients working on government-funded projects, ensuring compliance with the Davis-Bacon Act and prevailing wage laws.
- Time Tracking: Verify employee timesheets and hours worked for various construction projects using [Time Tracking Software], ensuring data is accurate and approved by clients.
- Job Costing: Work with clients to allocate labor costs to specific projects and provide detailed reports on payroll expenses for job costing purposes.
- Deductions & Benefits: Manage employee benefits and deductions for construction workers, including health insurance, garnishments, and other benefits as directed by the client.
- Record Keeping: Maintain organized and accurate payroll records for all clients, ensuring data is available for audits and client requests.
- Client Reporting: Provide clients with detailed payroll reports, wage analysis, and labor cost breakdowns as requested.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of payroll experience, preferably in the construction industry or a staffing firm supporting construction clients.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, QuickBooks, Sage) and construction-specific time tracking/job costing systems.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction payroll processes, certified payroll requirements, and prevailing wage laws.
- Client-Focused: Ability to build strong relationships with clients and provide high-level support while managing multiple client accounts.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to handle large volumes of payroll data while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills for resolving payroll issues with both employees and clients.
