St. Lukes University Health Network, the regions largest, most established health system, a major teaching hospital, and one of the nations 100 Top Hospitals is seeking a BC Pediatric Surgeon to join our dedicated team of trauma physicians, pediatric surgeons and advanced practitioners.
St. Lukes is starting a Level II pediatric trauma center at St. Lukes Childrens Hospital - Bethlehem Campus and is searching for a Pediatric Trauma Program Medical Director to help develop this new trauma program. The candidate will be critical in the development and success of this program. The pediatric trauma program will have the full support of the Networks Adult Level I Trauma Center at St. Lukes University Hospital - Bethlehem Campus.
Candidates must be Board Certified in Pediatric Surgery with a minimum of four years of experience in the care of the acute trauma patient and able to demonstrate outstanding clinical skills.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Oversight of the development of new pediatric trauma program in conjunction with St. Lukes trauma team.
- Participate in trauma strategic planning and the development of new initiatives to grow services within the department.
- Participate in provider recruitment initiatives.
- In collaboration with service line leadership, evaluate the departments financial performance and identify initiatives to improve.
- Review and analyze quality and service metrics; develop and implement processes to improve.
- Participate in Network education events and training of new providers.

Highlights include:
- Lukes network of trauma centers is the largest in Pennsylvania. St. Lukes Pediatric Trauma Program will be support by St. Lukes robust trauma network. St. Lukes cares for thousands of patients every year at seven trauma centers throughout the region that are fully accredited by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation and supported by a team of fellowship-trained trauma surgeons, orthopedic trauma surgeons, trauma neurosurgeons, emergency medicine traumatologists, surgical critical care fellows and advanced practitioner fellows.
- In 2023, St. Lukes announced the establishment of St. Lukes Childrens Hospital at the Bethlehem Campus and is a proud member of the Childrens Hospital Association, representing decades of growth and investment in pediatrics and the Networks commitment to pediatric services.
- Lukes Childrens Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics consists of inpatient, neonatal, emergency medicine, specialty and primary care providers spread across a variety of practice locations. The Network also has a robust base of family practice providers throughout the St. Lukes service area (Pennsylvania and New Jersey).
- The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is an 8-bed unit which opened in February 2020 at St. Lukes Childrens Hospital, Bethlehem Campus. The unit is staffed by critical care intensivists and specially trained pediatric nurses and receives admissions from the Networks 12 hospital campuses. The unit is also located adjacent to the 17-bed Inpatient Pediatric Unit allowing for easy transfer and collaboration across units.
- The new Pediatric Emergency Department is a 6 bed unit located within St. Lukes Childrens Hospital and will expand to 11 beds at the completion of an ongoing construction project.
- The unit is supported by a growing team of pediatric specialists spanning 40 specialty areas including pediatric surgery, GI, endocrinology, nephrology, developmental pediatrics, neurology, cardiology, dermatology, psychiatry, pulmonology, radiology, anesthesia, orthopedics, plastic surgery, and more! Many are conveniently located at St. Lukes Pediatric Specialty Center, the regions only freestanding building dedicated entirely to pediatric services.
- The most robust and highest volume OB program in the region with a strong maternal and fetal medicine program which delivers over 5,000 babies per year.
- Surgical Level III NICU located at St. Lukes Childrens Hospital, Bethlehem, PA, 8 bed Level II NICU at St. Lukes Allentown Campus, 26 bed Level III NICU at St. Lukes Anderson Campus, and a 6 bed Level II NICU at St. Lukes Upper Bucks Campus.
