Perform technical and specialized work of a moderate grade of skill in connection with chemical and environmental systems; industrial hygiene (IH) testing, analysis, detection and repair of defects in related systems, devices and instruments; assist others in making tests, surveys and layout work.
Job Description
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
+ Perform cooling tower water testing.
+ Perform plant cooling water testing.
+ Run air and hydrogen dew points.
+ Grease air operated valves.
+ Help and learn Performance & IH Technician work
+ Assist Performance & IH Technician Sr with circulating water chlorination testing.
+ Assist Performance & IH Technician Sr with pulverized pivot tube calibration, pump tests, coal scales calibrations and pulverize fineness testing.
+ Shake down pulverize fineness coal samples.
+ Collect coal samples from as-fired and truck samplers. Samples are labeled and transported to coal lab where they are entered into system with ATN number.
+ Perform coal sampler maintenance. This includes cleaning and repairs.
+ Collect mill samples and conduct fineness testing.
+ Assist on polisher/demineralizer regenerations. Assist on polisher/demineralizer maintenance.
+ Assist on condenser inspections.
+ Assist on unloading chemical trucks.
+ Perform other job duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education requirements are listed below:
+ Two-year Associate degree in Chemistry, Biology or Environmental or
+ Associate degree in another discipline with five (5) years of related industrial chemical, environmental or laboratory experience, with knowledge of chemical handling and testing, piping, fittings and valves.
+ Must be able to pass a Technician Occupations Selection System (Tech) examination, if required.
Work Experience requirement listed below:
+ Must satisfactorily complete, in such time frames as may be established by the company, all required training to advance to the Performance & Industrial Hygiene Technician classification, or vacate the Performance & Industrial Hygiene Technician-Junior classification.
+ Must have a moderate degree of knowledge and skill necessary to perform work with standard laboratory and chemical analyzing equipment.
+ Must be able to read, interpret and work from simple prints, sketches and specifications.
+ Must be familiar with equipment and clearance procedures, safety practices and current procedures applicable to the work.
+ Must be able to distinguish colors on a standard color blindness test
+ Must be able to work effectively with other employees and learn to instruct and direct other employees.
+ Must have demonstrated the ability to physically and mentally perform work in all areas and heights required.
+ Must have a working knowledge of applicable OSHA and Environmental guidelines.
Required License(s)/Certification(s) are listed below:
+ Must possess the appropriate State driver's license.
+ Must obtain and maintain all necessary certifications and licenses as required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
List physical demands required for this job, but not limited to:
1) Must be able to work at heights and climb ladders and structures
2) Able to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, twist, push and pull
