Pharmacy Technician, Quality Management
Full-time, 80 hours per pay period, Day shift

Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Pharmacist, contacts and tracks patient progress regarding medication assistance needs for the purpose of achieving established quality improvement and care coordination patient directed goals. Technical functions are expanded to include medication reconciliation proficiency, problem solving skills, and quality improvement involvement. Leadership skills are required to include demonstrated written and verbal communication that supports the overall objectives of the department.

Responsibilities:- Facilitates the patient’s appropriate navigation of the healthcare system and supports patient understanding of personalized healthcare needs.
- Acts as an advocate for an individual's healthcare needs by identifying and communicating potential needs to the RN or Social Work Team or Pharmacist.
- Understands the intricacies of patient medication assistance programs, as well as third party medication tier structure and formularies.
- Facilitates patient understanding of the physician’s treatment plan, including but not limited to medication adherence, preventive care, and self-management skills.
- Assists in the development of new projects.
- Actively participates in pharmacy related community projects when needed.
- Actively participates in quality improvement activities. Each employee will contribute to the continual evaluation of departmental performance as well as the implementation and measurement of improvement activities that increase the quality of care provided to patients.
- Consults with the Pharmacist and/or other health team members and seeks guidance as necessary.
- Aids patients with access to medications by facilitating refills and/or 90 day prescription fills.
- Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as directed. Attends and serves on professional/civic service organizations as hospital representative.
- Remains actively involved in intra-departmental communication and dissemination of related information.
- Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.

Minimum Education:
None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.
Minimum Experience:
One (1) to three (3) years of experience in a clinical setting, retail setting, or medical office. Must be PC proficient with working knowledge of Windows, Word, and Excel.
Licensure Requirement:
The Tennessee Board of Pharmacy requires newly hired probationary employees to be licensed by the end of their first 90 days of hire and to maintain their Technician License in active status thereafter.
