Job Description
The Phlebotomist is the front-line representative of Laboratory Services. The Phlebotomist will be responsible for the following:
- Blood sample collection by venipuncture, heel stick, and finger stick.
- Properly identifying patients prior to performing blood collection.
- Following Laboratory protocols and procedures for blood collection.
- Collection and other information into Laboratory Information System.
- Ensuring that collected specimens are delivered to appropriate Laboratory department.
- Maintaining properly stocked supplies on phlebotomy cart or tray and supply room.
- Operating and performing patient testing on Point-of-Care Laboratory Instruments.
- Assist with receiving specimens from Tube System and distributing specimens to correct department.
- Training new-hire phlebotomist.
- Good customer service skills.
- Other duties assigned by Supervisor or Laboratory Director.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Completion of a formal training course in phlebotomy from an accredited school preferred
Experience:
One year phlebotomy experience preferred
250+ successful venipunctures
Licenses/Certificates:
Certification in phlebotomy preferred.
BLS REQUIRED
