What will you be doing?
The transportation technologies team provides the transportation industry with the confidence that its products and services meet required safety and quality standards. The team's services cover all aspects of clients' needs from advisory, auditing, certification and inspection to outsourcing, quality assurance, testing, training and more.
Schedule: Approximately 20 hours per week, generally between the hours of 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. - some weekend work could be arranged if desired.
Length of internship: 1 year or as needed
Start date: January 2024
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Preparing test samples utilizing a variety of hand tools and shop equipment.
- Setting up test apparatus for routine tasks.
- Setting up and operating analytical equipment including goniometer and other photometry devices.
- Obtaining and recording test data in accordance with procedures.
- Performing routine analysis of test data and calculations.
- Maintaining equipment and facilities.
- Perform other duties as required.
What qualifications do you need?
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Currently a student in a Bachelor's Program in the STEM fields at an accredited university
- Familiarity with electrical wiring preparation and analytical methods preferred
- Ability to utilize basic shop equipment and various hand tools.
- Be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work
- Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines
- Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time management
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal written and presentation formats
- Must possess the fundamental technical and administrative skills required to perform the job duties
- Must be customer focused and quality driven
Physical Requirements:
- Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
