- Job Summary
The physical security specialist is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing physical security systems, such as intrusion alarms, access control systems, video management systems, and other alarming equipment. The specialist must have a thorough knowledge of the system components and be able to troubleshoot any issues. As a result of their knowledge and expertise, physical security specialists help to ensure the safety and security of people and property. Physical security specialists can also provide the necessary training and education to staff on the proper use and operation of the system, helping to create a more secure environment.

- Education
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Trade School or electrical, electronic, or IT certification.
- Experience
- Required: 2 years’ experience installing, maintaining, and/or repairing physical security systems.
- Required: Must meet Requirements for Operating Vehicles Owned by CoxHealth System Policy, which includes no serious driving violations during the past five years. Serious violations are defined in the CoxHealth System Policy
- Preferred: 3-5 years’ experience servicing physical security systems
- Skills
- Strong team member and building skills.
- Ability to prioritize work.
- Advanced knowledge of the safe operation of all tools used in performing duties.
- Knowledge of security systems such as access control, CCTV, alarm systems, and related technologies.
- Ability to install, configure, test, and troubleshoot security systems.
- Knowledge of basic electronics and electrical wiring principles.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents such as blueprints, schematics, and diagrams.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and procedures.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and to collaborate with other specialists on complex tasks.
- Experience in customer service and problem-solving.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Proficiency in computer applications such as MS Office and CAD.
- Basic network knowledge.
- Ability to demonstrate proper wire termination techniques for all low-voltage wiring and network cabling.
- Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Required: Active Driver's License.
- Preferred: STI Fire Stop Certification
- Preferred: Some form of MEP Certification from an accredited trade school. Such examples include but are not limited to Vatterott College and Ozarks Technical Community College.
- Preferred: Able to operate a fork-lift.
