In Q4 2023, Intel announced Altera will be reported as a separate business unit beginning on January 1, 2024 with ongoing support from Intel. This position is associated to that standalone business strategy and is expected to fully transition to a standalone company at some time in the future.
The Planning System Architect is an industry-specific subject matter expert who splits their time between customer engagements and core Product Planning teams responsible for Silicon, Tools, and IP at Altera. This critical role involves two key functions. First, the Planning System Architect will work with Sales and key customers to develop winning value propositions and architecture proposals for customers using Altera devices. Second, the Planning System Architect will take key learnings and technology trends back into Altera's Planning and Architecture core teams to improve future product definition.
The successful candidate will need to navigate complex customer architectures, trading off performance, sizing, and power to optimally tune the FPGA design to customer platforms. Additionally, the successful candidate will need to articulate the learnings from those customers engagements to core planning teams to ensure future products will enable emerging technologies as they materialize.

- Edge AI: Neural networks for inline low latency data processing
- Industrial: Automation, Motor control, synchronization
- Test and Measurement: Protocol Testers and Manufacturing Testers
- Video: Broadcast, Camera's, Codecs, Compression
- Aerospace and Defense: Radar, EW, LEO applications
- Wired: Transport, Switching, Traffic Management, Security
- Wireless: Radio
- Wireless: Baseband
You are required to be on-site for this role.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years of FPGA design, Architecture, or FAE experience in FPGA.
- 5+ years in the industry of your SME (ex. Wired Networking, Industrial Automation etc.).
- 2+ years of direct people management experience
- Proven customer engagement skills. This role requires you to win over key Tier-1 customer architects by gaining their trust and respect.
- Proven experience to orchestrate cross-functional team management and leadership.
- Ability to trade off features, schedules, business impact across silicon, IP and SW.
- Business acumen - understands business and technical challenges and landscape, strong technical acumen with background on vertical markets and FPGA solutions.
- Strong interpersonal skills - can bring difficult discussions to the table and arbitrate different viewpoints effectively, not afraid to speak up to ensure success of program and call out dysfunction.
- Presence and Communications - can create and facilitate engagement and dialogue and open communication in stressful situations, can communicate goals and plans to e-staff and critical project stakeholders.
- Some customer travel required. Roughly 1-2 months per year.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US:
$225,175.00-$359,585.00Salary range dependent on a number of factors including location and experience.
