FULL DESCRIPTION: The Plant Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the plant, ensuring efficient processing of a variety of food products, compliance with safety and quality standards, and continuous improvement of processes.
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Adhere to company values published in the employee handbook.
- Provide strong leadership and direction to the plant staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, safety and continuous improvement.
- Oversee all aspects of plant operations including processing, packaging, maintenance, quality control and logistics.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations, including OSHA, FDA, and seafood-specific guidelines such as HACCP.
- Analyze and optimize seafood processing and packaging processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste and lower costs.
- Develop and manage the plant's operating budget, controlling costs while achieving production goals.
- Negotiate with suppliers and manage inventory to ensure timely availability of processing supplies.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including procurement, sales, production north, and warehouse to align plant operations with business objectives.
- Provides employee coaching and development. Manage employee issues through problem resolution.
- Performs accident investigations
- Ensure that the staff are working in a manner that promotes safety, complying with OSHA, Cal OSHA, and SDS standards.
- Leads and manages hourly employees and others as assigned.
The selected candidate will also possess:
- Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree and five t o s e v e n years related experience in food processing experience and / or training or equivalent combination of education and experience, and strong computer skills. Knowledge of HACCP, GMP's, OSHA and loss control programs is highly desirable.
- Language Skills: Ability to read, comprehend, and compose instructions, correspondence, and memos in English. Must possess the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Spanish language highly desirable.
- Reasoning Ability: Possess good analytical, quantitative, communication, problem solving, and technical skills. Ability to creatively apply experience, common sense, and a strategic and economical business perspective to a variety of situations, processes and people. Ability to manage several projects concurrently. Ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities with efficiency and accuracy and work independently and professionally and in a team environment.
- Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual must have at least a command of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to sit for longer periods of time than normal; use hands to handle tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, crouch; and talk and hear. The employee must be able to move up to 50 pounds.
- Work Environment: The plant is a wet environment with machinery in operation and temperatures often exceeding a comfortable level. There is time worked beyond business hours due to seasonal fluctuations. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Salary Range: $130k-$150k/yr
