About the Job
Under general direction, the Plant Operations Specialist carries out maintenance and inspection procedures on a scheduled interval basis in order to minimize the risk of failure and to insure continued proper operation of HVAC and mechanical equipment throughout the hospital complex. These procedures include cleaning, lubricating, adjusting, calibrating, repairing and periodic replacement of certain parts. The Plant Operations Specialist must demonstrate skill in HVAC Operations, maintenance repairs and basic understanding of the other trades throughout the maintenance department. The Plant Operations Specialist must be able to work alone or in a group and meet deadlines set for a particular task.
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates knowledge and ability to work alone to solve problems or when called upon can take the lead on a given job with mechanic.
- Ability to work on and install complex systems which involve electronics, electrical, pneumatic and computer interfaced technology.
- Reads blueprints and models to learn work layout and plans own work layout, makes routine computations as needed and attends mandatory in service as required
- Performs water treatment test and takes corrective action on a daily basis
- identifies system failures and troubleshoots plant equipment in details to restore to operations or controlled conditions.
- Operates and maintains facilities automation systems, such as Siemens Building Automation System
- Carries out periodic maintenance functions for the pneumatic tube system. Works with mechanic to troubleshoot the system and make repairs as needed. Must demonstrate a strong working knowledge and understanding of the Pneumatic Tube System
- Maintains the Utility Power Monitoring system in working order and works closely with other trades to keep the system performing at optimal condition.
- Very good working knowledge Building Automation systems is needed. Siemens BAS experience preferred. Other BAS systems will be considered.
- A strong working knowledge and understanding of pneumatic, electronic and electrical controls required.
- Operates hot water boilers, steam boilers, pumps, air handler units, water softeners, compressors, medical gas system, alarms and emergency generators to insure the comfort and safety of patients, staff and visitors.
Schedule: Monday to Friday from 8:00 am - 4:30 pm
Qualifications:Education and Experience:
High School Diploma/GED
Over 3 years to 5 years Facilities related on the job experience required Or Vocational diploma
Minimum of 5 years facilities related on the job experience preferred
